Had a Little Rooster is a cumulative song that has been shared and sung for more than 100 years, with each verse introducing a new character and a new sound that must be added to the previous verse, making each verse longer and longer. Cumulative songs are fun to sing, as they require singers to use more and more breath, and challenge them to remember an ever-increasing cast of characters and sounds.
