Interaction Opening Up The Jazz Ensemble Book/CD

This book/CD set addresses the development of improvisation in all its forms, individual and collective, textural and structural, and is designed to open up the minds of all the players in any jazz situation. The workshops are designed to help all levels of improviser. They will help the raw beginner start the process of learning to improvise, not necessarily in an exposed soloing situation, but will also help the technically fluent improviser who often needs to be taught to listen more and consider the overall picture rather than just his or her own contribution. Interaction also deals in a practical way with the connections between the present and the past, showing how the concepts of earlier styles can be adapted to our own music to create something valid for our own situation.
