Description

Die Sonate fur Bassklarinette oder Violoncello und Klavier entstand im Fruhjahr 1995 auf Anregung des hollandischen Bassklarinettisten Henri Bok dem das Werk auch gewidmet ist. Die drei Satze haben stark erzahlerischen sprechenden Charakter. Der erste Satz wird aus zwei lyrischen Gedanken entwickelt die sich in der Mitte zu einem dramatischen Hohepunkt steigern um am Ende mit trauermarschahnlicher Geste zu versinken. Der Variationssatz vertritt die Funktion des Scherzos. In ihm werden in verschiedenen vornehmlich rhythmisch gepragten Gestalten die virtuosen Moglichkeiten der beiden Partner genutzt. Die das Stuck beschliessende Elegie ist ein ausufernder Klagegesang der die Basklarinette / das Cello die extremsten Lagen durchwandern lasst.
