The one-movement Romance Op.28 was written in 1877. While it was not an immediate success, success did indeed come. Faur© recalled, At first hearing, it was received with much grinding of teeth; at second hearing, the lights began to go on, and at third hearing, it provoked comparison with a limpid stream coursing through green meadows! What a pity one cannot always begin with the third hearing. Grade 8 plus level.
