With the "Concerto for Orchestra" Henle opens the series of inexpensive study editions according to the musical text of the Bartok Complete Edition. When Bartok received the composition commission from Serge Koussevitzky in May 1943, this meant not only financial support, but also an important creative impulse for the seriously ill composer. Already in October the five-movement concert was presented, which Koussevitzky enthusiastically described as "the best orchestral work of the last 25 years". The first performances in the winter of 1944/45 were also very successful. Nevertheless, Bartok was persuaded to fix an alternative end, which, however, the composer, who died in September 1945, should no longer hear. Bartok-specialist Klara Moricz delivers both versions in her edition and summarizes the history and tradition of the "Concerto for Orchestra" in an exciting preface. A short remark section informs about the essential basics of the edition. Concert for Orchestra Composer: Bela Bartok Publisher: G. Henle Verlag Instrument: Orchestra Format: Study Score Pages: 168
